Tis the season to be Jolly!

‘Glory to God in the highest
And on earth peace good will toward men/women’.
Yes, we are back! We made it. No meltdowns on the plane. No Swedish winter vomiting disease* Glory to God in the highest, who kept us sane, healthy and in very good spirits. Yes you will be happy to hear that the trip was a total success.**
Thanksgiving was so much fun and my classy green bean casserole was a complete success. Did I double the crackers and butter for the topping? You bet your white trash arse I did. The turkey, mainly presided over my friend Shannon, turned out to be one of her bests and everyone went back for seconds and thirds. The very special cranberry sauce was made out of Swedish Lingonberries but we couldn’t give a rats. We cooked and chatted all day and then Tina Sparkles and another gorgeous friend showed up for the main event. Shannon’s husband was surrounded by stunning women from ages 6 months to 480 months, so it was win win for all.
Our trip to Tivoli, Copenhagen was also vomit-free and ultra fun. We started off by getting the kids to have a synchronised sleep in the pram whilst we went to Royal Copenhagen and shopped. When we hit the second floor, with all the Xmas and I nearly wet myself. I was in total heaven. I had a strict, one for them/one for us policy when buying stunningly pretty Danish rotary candle holders so it turned out to be the season of giving, but of also receiving which was nice.
Next stop was lunch at anywhere we could leave the pram outside of and then a bit more shopping. I fell in love with this breakfast set from Helbak so decided that I was definitely on Santa’s good list and thus we could acquire it.
We then hit Tivoli and managed not to freeze to death. The wind calmed down and all the Lou Lou clan were happy. It was so damn beautiful with all the Christmas lights and warm hot chocolate. The kids did enjoy it and got to go on a few rides but the thing they were most excited about was the purchased of 2 big helium balloons and once TSH had had some rum in his hot chocolate, he was excited about having to look after them too.
And then just when you think it cannot get any better, the kids fell asleep and TSH and myself got to have a romantic little walk under a million fairy lights whilst eating warm cinnamon donuts.***
Tis the season to be Jolly, and as it turns out, rather poor. Made any spontaneous purchases for yourself this holiday season?
*so far, blessed be the Lord.
**I’m lying. Thanksgiving was cancelled for TSH and my kids as the hosts kid had a fever and we did decided that we shouldn’t risk it, so he stayed home at Tina Sparkles and I went off to celebrate with my friends. Poor TSH, he loves a good turkey and this year was one of our bests, but I did make sure that I took him back a doggy bag so all was not lost.
***I ate some sugar even though I quit it and ending up with a headache for 2 days and feeling really tired, so I haven’t touched the white stuff since.
Help my American butt. Is arse the same this as ass? Pretty sure yes.
Also, when you mentioned lunching at someplace where you can leave the pram outside, that’s with the baby in the pram correct? I’ve heard about those progressive European countries where you can do that. Here is America that baby would be stolen by some loon, probably toting a gun and wearing their pajamas to run errands.
We have been known to leave them outside, plenty of loons in Denmark but they seemed to leave us alone!
Oooh….you make me so jealous imagining the fabulous smells, sights and tastes! I hope you had enough for me too. I’m glad TSH at least god a doggy bag…and some brownie points I imagine.
Ooh, Helbak looks like my kind of thing! Might just add myself to Santa’s good list!!!
I’ve prepared a pride of place spot in the kitchen (like the good room) for the Helbak, I hope our chipped Ikea stuff doesn’t get jealous. Yes, you would have loved, loved, loved it! I’m glad we did it even though it was quite a way to go…
Sounds like it’d be more at home in the pool room!
Oh how lovely! Glad you had a fabulous trip and love seeing a pic of you!!!!
Thanks!
Ah, Tivoli at Christmas – beautiful. There are a few occasions when I miss Denmark and Christmas is one of them – the æbleskiver, the ris a l’amande, the lights in Tivoli and the all-round hyggelig-ness of it.
I know! It was so beautiful. Actually the only thing I miss about living in Malmö is Copenhagen. 🙂
Sorry TSH had to miss it! Glad he took one for the team. Ewww on the sugar headache! Maybe an iPad was our biggest planned yet not-so-planned big purchase of the season. Told ourselves we don’t be buying anything for one another then :).
Oh I am sure you will using the iPad all the time! Good gift buying! Lou Lou Approved!!!
