Friday Sorbet

Well as the temperature in Stockholm has been dropping, the weather in Sydney has been rising. I’m sure you have seen on the news that for a large part of this week, Sydney has been burning, with bushfires starting up all over. It’s so scary what a gust of wind can do. And by gust, I mean 100 k winds that were ripping through the bushland, mainly in the beautiful Blue Mountains. And it’s only spring. Lives and over 200 houses have been lost, it’s been pretty horrific.

Ho hum, it so strange to see this all play out on the news…

But well yes anyway….on a cheerier note, the kids and TSH have gone to Spain! (I’m still in Stockholm going to work, who thought of that plan?) So I was up at 5.30am helping to get them ready and to push them all onto the plane. They are going down there to celebrate  one of TSH’s best friends 40th. About 30 + people are turning up for a few days of sunshine, fun and a drop of Spanish wine I’m sure.

So, I’ve got 5 days to myself so this 21 week pregnant chick is going to go wild! I’m meeting friends tomorrow night for dinner, then I’m planning on getting a few things done around the house that I never have the time to do, whilst the kids are away. Sleep. Sound sleep.

Here’s a few sweet things for your soul from around the web:

♥ Want the secret to a chaos-free morning? It really changed our lives when we started doing it. (via English Mamma.)

♥ One of the best attitude‘s towards the fires I’ve seen. I would have been thinking the exact same thing.

♥ This article scared me so I found this website.

♥ I loved these pictures of the world’s most beautiful libraries!

♥ And the above picture from National Geographic reminded me I want to by this book for my daughter. It features 150 birdsongs from Sweden. Getting my Xmas shopping in early.

♥ Start your day off with an ‘awwww’. These baby sibling pics are just too cute.

Will your weekend plans be the same as mine? Containing a cup of tea, a big bed and not much else?

  1. Not kid-free for me this weekend 🙂 and visiting family, so definitely no sound sleep either ;). But we are going for dim sum, which is like top of the list for all-time favorite foods to eat..and THANK YOU for including my post in your list, awwwwwww shucks! Lastly, I totally am a get ready at night kind of gal. You’ll never hear me asking “where’s my ____ ” in the morning. Guess who asks this though…

    • Oh I love dim sum but in Australia for some reason we call it yum cha! it’s one of my favourite Sunday rituals when I’m in Sydney. Unfortunately, they don’t really have it in Sweden. It took us a while before it clicked for us – oh, get ready the night before – and now things run much much smoother in the mornings…

      • “yum cha” is Cantonese. “dim sum” is a loose Mandarin pronunciation!

We had the same lightbulb moment with preparing the night before – and what a difference it makes (apparently, as I am long gone and at work by the time the boys wake!). Thanks for the link 🙂
Beautiful sibling photos. I am feeling inspired.
