Worth their weight or just worthless?

Are these products worth their weight in gold or just plain worthless?
1. Scented nappy bags. Oh how I scoffed when I first saw these! Oh you crazy people at Coles, do you really think I’m going to waste my money on those? And then a friend had them and while I was up to my hands in poo, she had neatly disposed of her bubs nappy and it even smelt good. I got me some of those after that and now I love them. Perfect for visits to baby-free friends homes (= no good nappy disposal system) or to any public place that also lacks them – yes there are many. Perfect size and the scent thing is actually a blessing from God.
2. Wipes clutch. A nice one. Well this falls into the category of ‘not essential’ but ‘very, very nice to have’. I found that lugging around a whole, heavy container of wipes was a pain and that this solution for on-the-go travel was much better. And nicer to look at. The ten times a day you change a nappy. Makes the perfect gift for a mum-to-be as it is not something one would usually by for oneself. Lots of patterns and colours to choose from. Available from Dash Baby, Australian of course!
3 + 4. A beautiful change bag and pram blanket. I read and researched all the advice out there about change bags and went with a sensible one, bought second-hand off the internet. It was brown, it was boring and when I saw it, I immediately didn’t like it. What the articles don’t tell you is that you will have the change bag with you, every day for the next 2 to 3 years and if you add another bub to the mix while you’re at it, you will be looking at that thing for a decade. I traded up and went for a luxury model to make up for all the money I’d saved from my original purchase.
Hello Petunia Pickle Bottom ! I’ve had this bag for nearly 2 years now and it still looks like new. Fits everything in, looks great and doubles as a back pack. It was one of the best purchases I have ever made. Top tip: A great US store Post Tots, does international shipping and offers great service.
5. Dummy clips. When I first saw these I didn’t even know what it was for. Then I worked it out and thought to myself, well my baby is not even going to have a dummy. Then a thing called life bitch slapped me and turns out that those stupid dummy clips have save my daughters much used dummy from hitting many, many a dirty floor.
What products have you thought were ridiculous but turned out to save your life?
Once again, outwitted by your baby with the dummy clip ;). Just kidding. I never heard of scented nappy bags! I could just use my scented ones for my dog!!! Great idea to have tho. Seriously. My diapers sometimes come with a travel wipes carrier. Used that for a bit. When they’re newborn, definitely need a lot of wipes on hand. With an older kid, I stick wipes in the changing pad’s attached baggie. Sometimes I skip wipes if it’s just #1. I love the dummy clip, by the way. They should attach them to all kids’ toys — balls, trucks, etc. Love your bag!!
I’d never heard of scented nappy bags, actually it wouldn’t surprised me if they were originally made for dogs!
Ahhh…tips from the super coach! Thanks for the heads up. In looking at nappy bags my head is swimming!!!! I like yours and you say it fits lots? Next post….prams/strollers?? 😀 love it…keep em coming!
I know, the whole nappy bag thing is a minefield, I am totally in love with mine!
Excellent discoveries!
I no longer have a use for any of these items but I wish I had the changing bag and blanket when I did need it! They are adorable.
I know! Love them!
i actually love a pretty diaper bag, however, i always ended up using the free one i got from the hopsital because it would always get dirty and i would get spills and stuff. the wipe carrier is worthless, indeed! i carried it in a ziplock bag…. 🙂
hope you’re having a great wknd. 🙂
That’s what I love about this diaper bag, you can just wipe everything off it. That is great you got a freebie from hospital! Weekend has been fantastic, the sun is shining thank goodness!
