“The golden child of the weekdays.

The superhero of the workweek.

The welcome wagon to the weekend.

The famous F word we thank God for every week.”

It’s Friday night and the house is quiet. The kids are asleep and TSH is with our neighbour watching soccer.  I’ve  covered the house in fresh roses and tea candles. There’s a cup of tea to my left and the computer on my lap. It’s pretty cosy. I don’t mind the quiet at all.

We’ve had a big week.

Yesterday, we had our 18 week scan with the surprise baby. Everything looked great, all fingers and toes accounted for. The due date looks right for early March, according to the size now. It was pretty amazing to see. Another little life growing inside, it was looking pretty darn comfortable in there I must say. We could have found out the gender if we had wanted to. But we didn’t. Because TSH changed his mind a few days back. That little brat.

We had initially thought we would find out.  We were both all for it. It had been such a surprise that I was pregnant again, that to mentally adjust and prepare we thought we would scrap our usual ‘let’s wait and have a surprise’ policy and just go ahead and find out. Then, at the beginning of the week, TSH did an about turn and said he was now more used to the idea of our impending 3rd child and therefore didn’t need to know. Well, well, well. Pest. So after thinking about it and having a few ‘discussions’ we didn’t find out. We will be thrilled if we have another girl. We will be thrilled if we have a boy. End of story. P.S I am pretty convinced we are having a girl and after squinting a bit during the scan, didn’t detect any boy bits, so I still think I’m right. Unless he’s just modest.

The Weekend Ahead:

Tomorrow, it’s highly likely we will be heading off to my favourite autumn farmers markets on Söder. It’s held in the middle of the city on a very cute and narrow tree-lined walkway. It’s best to arrive early so as not to miss the good stuff and not to annoy too many people with your double pram!

Then, it’s onto pizza night with friends. Sunday it will all be about flipping a coin with TSH about who gets to stay in bed the longest and then on to afternoon tea with more friends. If you think it sounds like I’ll just be having fun and eating yummy things all weekend, well then I hope you are omnipotent.

What are your weekend plans? I hope they involve markets or cake.

How did you manage to cover the home in roses?! Ours is covered in cornflakes.

This weekend will be similar but on a leases scale. We’ll go to the (super)markets, eat lots (that I was coerced into buying by the accompanying children and attempt to flip a coin that doesn’t appear to exist on Sundays!

    • Ha! To be honest, the house was covered in cornflakes but the cleaners came! So when I got home from work, viola a clean house. Love it. Good luck at Woolies, hope the girls insist on TimTams then you can just buy stacks of them.

  4. I hope you got to sleep in. I had a lazy weekend though saw friends both days and went to a food and wine festival on Sunday. That was nice for a change.

Are you still moving back to Oz? How does the timing fit in with your due date?

    • A food and wine festival sounds lovely! Hope it was great. A bit undecided about our Sydney plans now as this news has changed things quite a bit, we plan to have the baby in March in Sweden and then later in the year see what happens if all is going well.
